Advanced/Intermediate Fly Tying Class

Take your fly tying to the next level.

This four-week course at Anglers Den is designed for fly tyers who already understand the basics and want to improve their technique, learn more challenging patterns, and produce cleaner, more consistent flies.

Each week, we'll focus on specific fly patterns that introduce more advanced techniques and materials. We'll break down not only how to tie each pattern, but why it's constructed the way it is and how you can use those techniques on other flies.

What You'll Learn

Throughout the four classes, we'll work on skills such as:

• Improving proportions, consistency, and overall fly quality
• More advanced thread and material control
• Working with a wider variety of natural and synthetic materials
• Advanced dubbing, body, wing, and hackle techniques
• Building more complex nymphs, dries, streamers, and other patterns
• Creating cleaner, stronger, and more durable flies
• Modifying patterns for different fishing situations
• Understanding material substitutions and how they affect a fly
• Tips for tying more efficiently at the vise

A New Challenge Each Week

Each class will feature different fly patterns and techniques, with the difficulty progressing throughout the course.

You'll learn how experienced tyers approach proportions, material selection, durability, and finishing details—and you'll have the opportunity to ask questions and get hands-on help while you tie.

By the end of the four weeks, you'll have added several new patterns to your fly box while developing techniques you can apply to dozens of other flies at your own vise.

Who Is This Class For?

This class is best for someone who has tied flies before and is already comfortable with the basic tools and techniques. You don't need to be an expert—we'll help you build from where you're at.
