Utah Fishing Report
November 10–16
Mid-November fishing across Northern Utah is firmly in late-fall mode. Cold mornings, low angling pressure, and active fish during warmer afternoon windows are defining the week. River flows are generally stable, and reservoirs are transitioning toward early ice-season conditions. Here is the latest report for the Weber River, Logan River, Strawberry Reservoir, and Rockport Reservoir.
Weber River
Conditions:
Flows remain steady with cold overnight temperatures and clearer water. Midday through late afternoon has been the most productive window as water temperatures rise slightly.
What’s Working:
Trout are holding in deeper runs and slower seams. Nymphing has been consistent with small mayfly and midge patterns. Streamers are effective in low light, especially near structure and undercut banks.
Notes:
Fishing pressure is light, making this a good time to cover water and target larger fish that are less wary.
Logan River
Conditions:
Cold and clear with lower flows typical of late fall. Snow is beginning to accumulate in shaded areas, so access can be slick in the mornings.
What’s Working:
Small nymphs fished deep are producing the most consistent results. Midges dominate the insect activity. Fish are feeding selectively, so lighter tippets and precise drifts are key.
Notes:
This is technical fishing, but rewarding for anglers willing to slow down and focus on presentation.
Strawberry Reservoir
Conditions:
Cold water temperatures with winter approaching quickly. Shore fishing remains viable, and boat access depends on weather and ramp conditions.
What’s Working:
Cutthroat and rainbow trout are cruising shallow flats, especially during calm, sunny afternoons. Jigging in deeper water has also been productive for anglers willing to search.
Notes:
Dress for winter conditions and keep an eye on weather changes, as conditions can shift rapidly this time of year.
Rockport Reservoir
Conditions:
Water temperatures are dropping, and fish are transitioning into late-fall patterns. Ice is not yet consistent but could begin forming along the edges soon.
What’s Working:
Trout are holding deeper and responding well to slow presentations. Vertical jigging and bottom-oriented tactics have been effective.
Notes:
This is a good opportunity to target less-pressured fish before ice season fully sets in.
Final Thoughts
Late fall offers some of the most peaceful and technical fishing of the year. Focus on slower water, fish deeper, and take advantage of the warmer parts of the day. As always, be mindful of changing weather and access conditions.
