Fishing Report
Starvation is fishing fair as the reservoir continues its late-summer transition. Walleye fishing is slow to fair, with the best opportunities occurring early, late and during periods of wind or cloud cover. Target main-lake points, rocky breaks, channel edges and submerged structure with jigs, blade baits, crankbaits or bottom-bouncing presentations.
Smallmouth bass are active around rocky shorelines and points. Use tube jigs, Ned rigs, drop-shot plastics and small swimbaits, working progressively deeper when shallow fish stop responding. Yellow perch may be found in schools near flats and channel edges using small jigs close to the bottom.
Rainbow and brown trout are generally holding in deeper, cooler water. Troll spoons, minnow-style plugs or other baitfish presentations during the morning and evening.
The reservoir is approximately 56% full and receding, with a reported water temperature near 70°F. The boat ramp is currently open, but anglers should verify conditions before traveling because declining water may affect access.
