Fishing Report

Pineview remains under an extreme drawdown, with only about 5,900 acre feet of water in storage. Shorelines, ramps, and safe boating routes can change quickly. Watch for deep mud, exposed rocks, debris, and unmarked shallow water.

Fish are restricted to the remaining channels and deeper structure, but recent catch information is limited. Emergency fishing rules remain in effect through December 31. Check the current rules before keeping fish.

Tiger Musky

Fish name: Tiger Musky Short description: Pineview Reservoir’s largest predatory gamefish.

Smallmouth Bass

A hard-fighting warm-water predator commonly found around rocky shorelines, points and drop-offs. Smallmouth readily strike soft plastics, crankbaits and streamers.

Largemouth Bass

An ambush predator commonly found near vegetation, submerged wood and protected shoreline cover. Largemouth readily strike soft plastics, jigs and reaction baits.

Black Crappie

A schooling panfish commonly found around submerged trees, docks and vegetation. Crappie readily strike small jigs, soft plastics and suspended presentations.

Yellow Perch

A schooling fish recognized by its yellow body and dark vertical bars. Yellow perch feed around vegetation and bottom structure and readily take small jigs and bait.

Bluegill

A common panfish found near vegetation, docks and shallow cover. Bluegill readily take small flies, jigs and soft plastics and provide excellent light-tackle fishing.

Black Bullhead Catfish

A hardy, bottom-feeding catfish found in warm, slow-moving water. Black bullheads are most active during low-light periods and readily take worms, cut bait and prepared baits.

Common Carp

A powerful, wary fish commonly found on shallow flats and around vegetation. Carp can be targeted with bait or sight-fished using carefully presented flies.
