Fishing Report

Lost Creek is still low, and DEQ has an algae warning on it. The park page still says clear, but it hasn't been updated since July, so we'd go with DEQ and keep the dogs out of the water. The wedge dock is still out for low water.

The cooler weather is good news here. Trout and tigers should be cruising shallower in the mornings and evenings, and shore guys can reach deep water fast off the steep banks. We haven't seen any fresh reports, so this is based on conditions and the season. Little Trail Creek area below the dam is still closed except for fishing in the creek.

Hot Species

Selected by the Anglers Den team

Rainbow Trout

A widely stocked and naturally reproducing trout known for aggressive feeding, strong runs and its distinctive pink lateral stripe.

Cutthroat Trout

A native western trout recognized by the red-orange markings beneath its jaw. Cutthroat inhabit cold streams, mountain lakes and reservoirs and readily feed on aquatic insects and baitfish.

Tiger Trout

A sterile hybrid of a brown trout and brook trout, recognized by its maze-like markings. Tiger trout are aggressive predators that readily chase flies and lures.

Splake

A sterile hybrid of a lake trout and brook trout. Splake thrive in cold lakes and reservoirs and are aggressive predators that readily strike jigs, spoons and baitfish-pattern flies.
