A large, deep-water predator found in cold Utah reservoirs. Lake trout commonly feed on cisco, kokanee and other baitfish and are often targeted by trolling or jigging.
Kokanee Salmon
A landlocked sockeye salmon found in several Utah reservoirs. Kokanee travel in schools and are commonly targeted by trolling small dodgers, squids and spoons.
Rainbow Trout
A widely stocked and naturally reproducing trout known for aggressive feeding, strong runs and its distinctive pink lateral stripe.
Smallmouth Bass
A hard-fighting warm-water predator commonly found around rocky shorelines, points and drop-offs. Smallmouth readily strike soft plastics, crankbaits and streamers.
Burbot
A freshwater member of the cod family found in Flaming Gorge Reservoir. Burbot are most active after dark and are commonly caught by jigging near rocky structure and deep flats.
Cutthroat Trout
A native western trout recognized by the red-orange markings beneath its jaw. Cutthroat inhabit cold streams, mountain lakes and reservoirs and readily feed on aquatic insects and baitfish.
Brown Trout
A wary, aggressive trout recognized by its golden-brown body and dark spots. Larger browns often feed heavily on baitfish and are most active in low light.
