Fishing Report
Deer Creek is providing a solid mixed-species opportunity. Smallmouth bass are the most consistent target around rocky points, shelves and drop-offs. Start shallower during the morning, then work deeper with Ned rigs, tubes and small swimbaits as sunlight reaches the water.
Rainbow trout remain available following multiple 2026 stockings. Shore anglers should work accessible points and windblown banks with spoons and spinners. Boat anglers can cover more water by trolling minnow-style crankbaits along contour changes.
Walleye are best targeted during low-light periods. Fish near the bottom around points, channel edges and transitions using bottom bouncers, crawler-style rigs, jigs or trolling crankbaits. Yellow perch and occasional crappie can be found around deeper cover and suspended schools.
Deer Creek can become windy quickly during the afternoon, so check the forecast and plan boat travel accordingly.
