Fishing Report

Blacksmith Fork is running low at approximately 51 CFS, making stealth and accurate presentations more important than covering water quickly. Concentrate on shaded pocket water, riffle edges, deeper bends, and runs with enough current to provide oxygen and cover.

Start with small mayfly nymphs, caddis larvae, midges, and stonefly nymphs fished under a small indicator or with a tight-line rig. Hoppers and other terrestrials can produce when placed tight to grassy banks and overhanging vegetation. Use lighter tippet, smaller indicators, and minimal weight to avoid constantly hanging bottom. Fish early during the cooler part of the day, carry a thermometer, and stop fishing if the water reaches 68°F.
