Fishing Report

Bear Lake dropped a little more, now about 5,911.5 feet, and the water is around 63 degrees. The ramps are still open, but Rendezvous is a 4WD deal and the park doesn't recommend launching there. Heads up, the docks, pump out and fish cleaning station get winterized October 20.

Cutthroat are moving shallower as it cools, and the lake trout should be pushing onto the rockpile and points to spawn later this month. Troll bright jointed minnows and FlatFish, or jig tubes and swimbaits once you find fish on the graph. We haven't seen a fresh catch report this week.

Lake Trout

A large, deep-water predator found in cold Utah reservoirs. Lake trout commonly feed on cisco, kokanee and other baitfish and are often targeted by trolling or jigging.

Bear Lake Whitefish

A native species found only in Bear Lake, typically inhabiting deeper, colder water. It feeds primarily on aquatic insects, small crustaceans and other bottom-dwelling organisms.

Bonneville Cisco

A small native fish found only in Bear Lake. Cisco form large schools, serve as important forage for larger predators and move into shallow water to spawn during winter.

Bonneville Whitefish

A native fish found only in Bear Lake. Bonneville whitefish generally inhabit deeper water and feed on aquatic insects, small crustaceans and other bottom-dwelling organisms.

Bear River Cutthroat Trout

A native cutthroat trout found within Utah’s Bear River drainage. It is recognized by orange-red throat markings and spotting concentrated toward the rear of its body.
