Fly Tying Class (November 2026)
Learn to tie your own flies from the ground up in this four-week, hands-on beginner course at Anglers Den. No previous fly tying experience is required.
Four two-hour sessions build your skills step by step, from using your tools and controlling thread to tying six proven fly patterns. You'll learn how to work with different materials, build properly proportioned flies, and use the techniques in other patterns.

Four-Week Course Outline
Week 1: Tools, Thread Basics & Zebra Midge
Get familiar with your vise and tying tools, learn to start and control thread, and practice the whip finish knot. Put those skills together by tying a Bead Head Zebra Midge.
Week 2: Natural Materials & Pheasant Tail Nymph
Learn the pinch wrap, tie in a tail, wrap a natural-fiber body, add a wire rib, and build a thorax and wing case. Tie a Bead Head Pheasant Tail Nymph.
Week 3: Foam Flies & Rubber Legs
Practice securing foam, adding rubber legs, and sizing and wrapping dry fly hackle. Tie a Bionic Ant and Foam Beetle, and learn when to fish these terrestrial patterns.
Week 4: Streamers & Stonefly Nymphs
Learn to add weight, work with marabou and chenille, wrap hackle along the body, and manage rubber legs. Tie a Bead Head Woolly Bugger and Pat's Rubber Legs, then review the skills covered throughout the course.
What's Included
Everything is provided, including the vise, tools, hooks, thread, and all the materials for each week's flies. Just bring yourself.
